Middle East - The Arabian Nights Book Testimonials

Wonderful Translation NOVEMBER 8, 2010
Easy to read, Diversity, Multicultural, Stories, Great illustrations, middle grade

This book is seriously a beautiful book filled with illustrations that are eye-catching and authentic-looking pieces of art. It would be a great addition to any library. I look forward to seeing my students respond to this book in my classroom library. Children will be drawn in by the pictures and stay engaged due to the interesting stories. This is another great read from Barefoot Books that is really for any age if the person is interested in the subject matter.

Having watched the movie Aladdin and heard about the tales of Shahrezade from one of the songs, my interest in reading this book was instantaneous. It's a piece of the world's literary heritage that I knew little about but was eager to discover. The most interesting part to me was reading the authentic version of Aladdin's story since that has captivated me for a long time. Each story is presented as being told by Shahrezade in order to save her own life from a murderous, grieving king. This adds an overall mood of suspense as the reader engages in the story.
