Part of a photographic series that accompanies children who have grown up away from their family’s homeland, and are now visiting it for the first time.
Seven-year-old Prita has come to India for the first time, with her parents and her elder sister, to visit their many relatives. She is fascinated by everything, from the Taj Mahal to the village shrines in Orissa, where her parents were born; from delicious green coconuts to market stalls filled with savoury snacks; but above all, by the way of life lived by her relatives. Some of it is like her life at home, but much of it is very different.
- Countries are seen through the eyes of a ‘westernised’ child from an immigrant family, visiting his/her family homeland.
