Description about design - ‘Reconciliation’

As an Aboriginal artist Angela Marr-Grogan is passionate about Reconciliation and building stronger relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, ‘Reconciliation’ is a special piece that symbolises partnerships and working together to create positive change.

The inner concentric circles and the outer circles represent community and organisations, with the layered dot work symbolising people coming together to improve and build closer relationships.

I have been painting for over ten years for cultural and spiritual reasons and for the past two years have been painting professionally.

"As an Aboriginal artist, I am inspired and driven by the depth of Aboriginal culture and my place within it.”

Global Kids Oz & Recycled Mats are proud long term members of the Indigenous Art Code, which ensures transparent, fair and ethical business trade in works of art by Indigenous artists

Care Instructions - All our floor mats have been made to the best attainable standards from UV treated recycled polypropylene. We make no assertions on the longevity of the product as there are too many variables including care, exposure to continuous direct sunlight, contact with abrasive cleaners etc

Please also note that although these floor and play mats are wonderful to use outside, we do not suggest that are left outside in direct and permanent sun and rain full time due to high UV exposure

FYI - More information can be found on how and where our mats are made under the FAQ’s section

Aboriginal - Angela Marr-Grogan designed 3m Round mat called "Reconciliation" Testimonials

The circle "Reconciliation" mat is the perfect addition to our natural environment. It complements and enhances the aesthetically pleasing area. The print and patterns gives us opportunities to talk about Aboriginal culture and art every time we use it. It is a natural and everyday springboard for learning. It has 16 circles around the edge that are perfect for educators to play formal games when children need their own space. The circle shape naturally promotes a sense of belonging and inclusion. We just love it!

Judy Radich, Nominated Supervisor, Cooloon Children’s Centre Inc.

The reconciliation mat is
a place that calls to the children to come to play and explore
a place to gather and sit
a place to stop and rest on a hot day
It represents culture, respect for our people and tells a story of a meeting place
It fits into our natural environment, encompasses our values and beliefs on sustainability as it is made from recycled materials.
It represents community and family.

Shannon Finnigan, Educator.
