One of the great musical discoveries of 2008 was a blind singer from North East Arnhem Land: Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, whose album, Gurrumul, won an ARIA Award for Best World Music Album in that year. Geoffrey has also played for Queen Elizabeth II, with Sting and Sir Elton John, and plays to sold-out crowds at the Sydney Opera House and around the world. In his early days, he played with the Australian Indigenous rock band, Yothu Yindi.
The songs on this CD are predominantly sung in Indigenous Australian languages and the CD had music critics hailing the arrival of an extraordinary talent; a veritable gift from the gods. ARIA voters agreed and Geoffrey was nominated for four ARIAs in 2008, including the coveted Best Male Artist.

Geoffrey is a true rising star who even recorded Every Breathe You Take with Sting in 2009.
