New Zealand - Multicultural Resource Kit Option B

NZ SET B

This cultural Kit for New Zealand contains a cross section of resources to help bring Maori culture into a classroom environment and contains;

1 - 1.8m x .9 m Koru designed play mat - this can be used as either a play mat or as a wall hanging. The design is influenced by the designers own family tree, on the Koru emblem are 5 rifts, 1 represents the Father of the family and their 3 sons, the other represents the Mother and 2 daughters. Or if out of stock then a "Kiaora" welcoem mat of the same size will be substituted. Kia Ora is Hello in Maori.

Kiwi & Pukeko Hand Puppet set and 2 finger puppets
Kiwi & Scorpion Book & Pukeko the Perfomer Book - the puppets make excellent aids to telling these adorable stories

Don Linden's famous Classic New Zealand's Favourite Kiwi stories including; The Kiwi Bird, The Great Fish of Maui, How Maui caught the Sun, Pelorous Jack and many more - these stories were played on Sunday morning radio for Kiwi kids of all ages to listen too from the 70's through until the mid 90's and are a part of many New Zealand children's upbringing and early memories.

Pania of the Reef Book  - This is a well known and loved New Zealand legend of Pania. Her statue sits proudly in Napier's main square as a tribute to her. Suits ages 3 and up to be read too or 7 and up to read themselves

Set of 5 New Zealand decorations that are ideal for a Christmas tree or to hang on your own "Kiwi" Mobile they include a Wharenui (Meeting House) Maori Warrior, 2 x Maori Wahine and a Kiwi Bird - this set makes for a great discussion started with children especially of they have cisited New Zealand or are from New Zealand - these decorations are not toys and are not designed to be given to children to play with - they are more of a decorative resource to look at. All are hand made. (Please note that there is 1 extra "Tiki" decoration shown in the picture that is not a part of this kit, apologies for this)

Bi Lingual Maori and English Poster Book set - this book contains 16 posters that can be taken from the book and put on the wall or left in book format and used. Contains posters such as Maori vowels, Numbers 1 - 10, Seasons of the Year, Days of the Week, My Head, Months of the Year, The New Zealand Haka and National Anthem. All Posters are bilingual. This is a top selling book.

The "Wharenui Stencil Book" is a must for children wanting to learn more about the Marae. Children can design their own Wharenui and with the help of the stencils they can also choose the designs from the area they are from. Children can use the Maori designs and patterns to border around their pages. If you are teaching a lot of children then cut the pages so that several children can use it at any one time
