"LIETUVA" is the STATE SONG and DANCE ENSEMBLE of LITHUANIA. Established in Vilnius in November 1940 they have performed more than 9000 concerts in Lithuania and 36 foreign countries including Germany, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Finland, Canada, Japan, South America, Mongolia, Italy, France, Holland, Denmark and United States just to name a few. They are a professional company uniting dancers, folk instrument orchestra and choir.
Since they diligently nurture the old traditions of folk art their concerts embrace Lithuanian folk song and dance traditions and attest their to professionalism and originality.
The orchestra involves exclusively traditional folk instruments that include LAMZDELIAI (pipes), SKUDUCIAI (panpipes), BIRBYNES (reeds), SKRBALAI (wooden bells) and KANKLES (plucked string instruments)
LIETUVA is one of the main organizers of the Ensemble Evenings, which are held during the Lithuanian Song Festival.
